August 6 – An Austrian Nobel Prize
|In 1947 Austro-Hungarian Gerty Cori and her husband Carl Ferdinand are awarded the Nobel Prize. Gerty for uncovering the-process-of-storage-and-release-of-human-cellular-energy: the Cori Cycle.
In other words: in the 1940s Gerty Cori finds out what our body does, when we need to use extreme force to free ourselves from an immediate threat, but just breathing is not able to get us enough energy to do so.
And in modern sports blog today-speak it sounds like this: ‘Strength-workouts-with-weights’ are good examples of anaerobe training. Because they are short in duration, avoiding a constant increase of your heart rate.
Thank you, Gerty Cori!
